Yeah, me again with this bullcrap by PrincessFlaw Yeah, me again with this bullcrap by PrincessFlaw
Seriously. Cut the bullshit. Stop spamming me with retarded pictures about how "real" women should or shouldn't look. I've been spammed with this [link] picture in facebook. Dove wants body variety? Good. Get some goddamn variety. But don't label your campaign as "real beauty". Makes it sound like most girls look like that. Which is untrue.

And if we get down to it, I actually see more skinny women than fat women around me.

Edit: Awww, sowee I don't want to argue on the internet :( But hey, there are people here willing to so go ahead, amuse me

fat is becoming the new "in" beauty.

doesn't make it any more healthy though... too skinny and too fat means unhealthy...
its not wrong for the popular beauty to be on the slender side. that's the look of peak health in the human body.
notice I said LOOK. the person can still have problems of all sorts, or is on the verge of a health downfall.

people these days... :l if you exist, you're real. lol

I notice this stamp is kinda old, but people are probably still gonna come around...

In my opinion, I think that the Victoria's Secret models look TERRIBLE (mainly because they look badly photoshopped to be living Barbie dolls), but who knows. . . there might be a greater amount of much nicer more interesting women in that row than there are in the Dove line-up for all we know. Real beauty is not skin deep.
Also. . . both those companies kinda suck anyway. lol

I really appreciate this stamp, it's both true and very well made. ^-^

It's in fact the only soap that makes me itch, even the cheesiest brands don't do that

I actually kinda like the smell of Dove soap, and the feel is ok. I just think that the minuscule amount of soap that makes up a bar is sickening ESPECIALLY at such an inflated price.

I prefer Cashmere Bouquet. :meow:

I agree. Variety is good but when it gets to the point they start believing they can define what a "real" size is, or in the case of that link, stamp on women for being naturally small, skinny, toned or have muscles, then its gone too far. These people seem to think the only way you can built up one group of people is to beat the others down and it's disgusting.

Now, I don't go around wanting to be some purposefully skinny or anorexic person.
Smae goes with skinny, I don't understand why we can't all hust be people and not labeled by size.
I also get called a slut for having lwrge breasts.

I'm thin not because i'm anorexic, but because I am a picky eater. A very picky eater. Whenever I see something healthy I immediately think it's gross. Probably because i'm addicted to sweet things. And I don't even like chocolate.

I think I understand what you mean, and I know you don't need it explained back to you but i'm going to post it so maybe people who didn't get it will read this and understand. but if I don't please tell me if you feel like bothering.

Fat people are not more real than skinny people. Skinny people are not more real than fat people. everyone is real, and everyone looks a different way, so any way they look is real. some are inclined to look one way or the other naturally and either is beautiful, real, and should not be exalted nor debased compared to the other.

My best bro has insecurities because of all of these "real beauty" campaigns - she's got a medical condition, where she's super super skinny, even though she eats way over two thousand calories a day, and they mess with her really bad. I mean, on one hand, I get trying to be body positive - I'm a big girl, and I personally think that I'm pretty damn good looking. But on the other hand - it's stupid to put one group down to bring another group up. We're all in this insecurity boat together. :P

Eating disorders go both ways. Medical conditions go both ways (I've got a friend with PCOS and the aforementioned friends - two sides of the same coin). People who eat when stressed/don'teat when stressed and are in situations that put them in a constant stress state exist. People who just eat too little/too much exist. It's all chill. Be who you are. If your doctor says gain/lose some weight, listen to them, doctors are smart.

Tl;dr: Weight's kind of insignificant, even for people who weigh like they do because of choices and not because of intrinsic traits.

I have a character named Octavia, and she is extremely tall and emaciated because she has an unidentified disease. In fact, I like to draw tall, skinny people for some reason.
Lots of people on the Internet think that my tall, skinny characters look "disturbing", when I don't intend them to be. One of the reasons for why my OCs are always either thin or average is because fat people are difficult for me to draw. I don't want to insult anybody. :)

I can't believe people who say skinny shaming isn't as bad as fat shaming ... It's the same thing but the weight is reversed, if it's not acceptable for someone to call you something insulting for being fat then its equally not as okay for a larger person to call a skinny person a rake/stick insect etc.

I have a hyper skinny friend, she's naturally slim and some of the abuse she gets is appalling.

A friend of mine who's on the larger side took to posting these 'real women have curves' images and it's just plain annoying to read because it's crap, a woman is no more real because she has curves.

The Victoria's Secret's "campaign" was actually an ad for a product line of theirs called "Love My Body", not an actual body acceptance campaign. [link] Dove's doesn't even have that much variety besides height and skin color anyways (and they're all body types that a lot of people find attractive anyway). I don't know why people care so much about a shitty campaign done by a deodorant company, and why they compare it to something that isn't even an acceptance campaign with zero research. You can literally do a google search and find that product line, godfuckingdamn.

I think how the whole thing got started was because fat women had and still do face a lot more discrimination than skinny girls. (and don't act like that's not true, because it is)

I'm not saying that skinny shaming isn't bad, it's just not as much as a serious issue.

If someone can be naturally thin, then I'm pretty sure someone can be naturally fat as well.

And, it is a fact that both fat men and women face more discrimination.

When air-traveling, most larger people are made to pay for an extra seat, or kicked off the plane all together. I've yet to see that happen to a skinny person.

People assume that someone's being fat is their own fault, but sometimes that's not true.

I'm fat, and yet I eat healthy and I exercise regularly.

When I was younger, people would actually take my food AWAY from me because, apparently, they thought I ate too much, when I actually don't eat that much at all. Kids would beat me up and exclude me from their clicks or whatever they call them because I was 'fat'.

If that's not worse than being called anorexic, then I'm not sure what is.

You know you are totally right

When I think of Skinny-Shaming(which isn't right by the way)
I think of Harsh comments every now and then. It might also be
"bigger people" who had enough of "fat shaming" and wanted to attack, but I think they did it wrong.

anyway, I think the "fat" thing has a much wider attack
because, for one, some people are called fat, even when THEY HAVE THE PERFECT RATIO BETWEEN SIZE AND HEIGHT! They are perfectly healthy!

on the other hand, if you're like me, and I am a big girl, I eat close-to-nothing all day (which is more or less my fault, but thats not the point) and when I eat I DO eat I eat a lot, and depending on how hungry I am, I eat kinda rushed, but I am afraid to eat around people, cause they just give me this look, so I always eat less when I am around people, BUT THEN I AM STILL HUNGRY!!!
(now that I read through it, its actually a funny predicament, I got myself into)

sorry for rambling on , I tend to do that a lot. ^^; heh heh

There's no way that thin shaming is "just as bad". And when I say this, I'm not trying to invalidate anyone's feelings that were hurt because of thin shaming, because it's still horrible to do.

It's just a fact that fat shaming is worse. There's systematic oppression behind fat shaming. There's more discrimination behind fat shaming.

People who complain about thin shaming need to learn the difference between Grievances and Oppression. I'm not saying "don't complain" because all forms of body shaming is bad, however; none are equal to each other.

Hey, just looking through the comments and found yours here...

This person shit-talking you...I don't appreciate that...

People CAN be naturally fat, yet healthy! Everyone is made differently and people don't realize that! Everyone carries their weight differently and no person should be ashamed of this, eating disorder or not.

You are beautiful and perfect the way you are <3
I love how you stand up so strongly for yourself, keep it up.
Nothing is stronger than acceptance and love.

Don't listen to other people, they don't matter. All that matters is that you are healthy and happy with who you are and people will love you for that! Don't let haters get to you hun, I know many healthy and heavy people as well as healthy and light people, and yknow what? We all deserve to be here, to be who we were born to be :)

Have a great day! <3 :)

Well if that's true then good. because you can help being fat, you can't help being anorexic.
You don't gain weight by breathing air. Sure there are certain contitions making you more prone to becoming fat
But face it, if you don't get any food for one month you will lose much weight, so its still partly your own fault

And if a fat person is practically sitting on me, then ofcourse I don't want to pay full price.
Absolutely logical that you have to pay more if you're 4 times my size. You're making the 10-hour flight of the skinny person a hell.

I don't hate fat people at all, I know people who are obese, great people, and they know that they can do things about it (one has lost 50kg in less than a year).
But you my dear are just being a pain in the arse by claiming this. Never going to believe you

Eating disorders go both ways, dear. Saying that someone can help being fat is no different than saying that an anorexic person can help being skinny.

So you're basically saying that I SHOULD allow myself to starve. That I SHOULD practice anorexia just so YOU can be comfortable? No, that's wrong. That's a horrible thing to say, not to mention bigoted.

A fat person shouldn't have to be forced to pay for an extra seat, especially when they don't have the damn money to pay for it. That's just scam to milk money out of perfectly good people.

You say that you don't hate fat people, but everything in your statement proves otherwise. You are one of the biggest bigots I've ever met. I hope you step on a leggo.

Concerning your point on air travel: When you fly on an airline, you pay for the actual seat on the aircraft. If a person can't physically fit into said seat, then they need to pay for another one or get off the aircraft. Simple as that.

No, I'm not saying that, I hope you're pretending to be stupid, otherwise I feel really, really sad for you.
I said that you could become skin and bones if you are not fed properly for a month or six (when you're in hostage somewhere ) so that you MAY be addicted to food, but that you CAN lose weight if you would eat less.
And, stommiteit, I said that I know many people who are fat/obese. And still you think I want them to get thin to make me comfortable? I don't care, its their body. But I do think its very unhealthy.
Because I was on vacation with someone who is quite heavy (140kg or something like that). (And 3 others who I also know very well). He slipped and fell on a rock with his head in the middle of a forest. And you have no idea how long it took for him to actually reach the ambulance. If I would've slipped, the fall wouldn't be as hard. So I wouldn't have cracked my skull open, and if I did the ambulance people would have been able to race me back with 2 people instead of 7 who constantly had to pause.

Bullcrap, if you go on a flight, you can pay double. Because those vacations are expensive. And why the hell should I care about YOUR country? In mine, it's forbidden to let some people pay more, so I don't have to deal with that at all.

That's nice, you're one of the most idiotic people I have ever read of. Because I haven't met you, you know. I don't really care that you claim that I do hate fat people, because I know I don't I don't need you to confirm that. It'd be the same if you tell me that I hate muslims, which is also utter belony because 2 of my best friends are. So I really don't need your opinion because you are obviously not worth much to me. I'd like to keep it that way.

Have a nice day, person.

that is not true AT ALL. Utter nonsense you're speaking now.
As a skinny girl, I get asked (by people who are a bit on the heavy side) SO many times "Are you an anorexic?" and things like that, but there would be hell to pay if I respond with "And you're obese?"

And asking if someone is anorexic is much much worse than calling someone fat, because fat people can do something about it. Anorexia is a brain disorder so that's really much worse than saying people should eat less.

I don't think it was the campaign's intention to skinny shame.

When they came up with Real Women Have Curves, I think they were trying to say that if a skinny woman can be beautiful, than so can a fat woman.

It goes beyond looks, in my opinion. It could mean personality, too. Not just looks.

It may not be the campaign's intention, nevertheless the slogan is saying that curves = real, which is quite an insulting statement towards those who don't have curves. I don't recall any of the skinny/photoshopped girl ads saying the women portrayed are 'real' women, whereas the others are - what? Freaks of nature? Sorry, but the slogan is just wrong.

As Marilyn Manson puts it, the media keeps us in a constant state of fear, and brainwashes the people viewing it to tell you what to do, and who to target. If you have pimples, girls won't fuck you. If you have a small dick, girls will think of you as a wimp. IT DOESN'T FUCKING MATTER WHO YOU ARE.
